Hug My Younger Self helps you create AI-generated vintage Polaroid images by combining two photos you select. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how face data is handled, and which third parties receive data.
The App does not use the device camera and does not scan your face in the background.
When you choose photos to generate a Polaroid, those images may contain facial features if people appear in the photos. We refer to this as face data because facial imagery is sensitive personal information.
What we collect:
How we collect it: only when you manually select photos and tap Generate through the system photo picker.
How we use it: solely to generate your requested Polaroid image. We do not use face data for identification, profiling, advertising, or biometric authentication.
To generate images, the App sends your selected photos and prompt to Google Gemini, a third-party AI service operated by Google LLC.
Data sent to Google: your two selected JPEG photos, any facial imagery contained in those photos, and the generation prompt.
Recipient: Google LLC via the Google Generative Language API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com).
Purpose: image generation only.
Before any photo is sent, the App displays a consent screen and asks for your explicit permission.
On our servers: we do not permanently store your uploaded photos or extracted face data on our own servers.
On your device: generated Polaroid images may be saved locally in the App until you delete them or uninstall the App. If you choose Save, the image is stored in your device photo library.
Third-party retention: Google may temporarily process API requests according to Google’s AI/API data handling practices.
Face data retention summary: collected only when you initiate generation; used only for that generation request; not retained by us after processing completes; generated results remain on your device until you remove them.
Analytics: Firebase Analytics collects app usage events such as app launch and subscription interactions. This does not include your photos.
Advertising: free users may see ads served by Google AdMob.
Purchases: subscription and in-app purchase status is handled by Apple.
We do not sell face data or photos.
